Sep 23rd, Introduction to Dawn's "Just Cards" Buffet Class

Lately it seems like I've been just aching to do some basic stamping and card making.  I'm always so focused on the next technique class or the next cool Big Shot project, that I'm feeling like I'm missing out on making fun basic cards!  Well, no more!   Here's a new monthly class I'll be offering.  If you live in or west of the Twin Cities, I'm sure you're gonna love it!!!

Introduction to Dawn's NEW "Just Cards Buffet" Class

Date:  Friday, September 23
Time:  5:30 PM - 9:00 PM (open house style)
Fee:  $16 for 8 cards ($1.50 for each additional card)

I'm introducing a new event in my monthly schedule and I know you're just gonna love it! Give a it a try tonight. Then it will move to it's permanent time slot on the last Tuesday of every month.

Do you wanna just make cards? Is your card stash getting slim? Then this is the class for you!

Just like a food buffet, you can pick and choose which cards you'd like to make, and how many of them.  Your $16 fee covers a minimum of 8 cards.  You can make more, if you have time, at $1.50 per card.  All supplies, tools and envelopes are included!

Each month there will be at least 16 card design choices with several designs that will be carried over each month to the next card buffet event. Varieties will include lots of birthday choices (as I know you want lots of theses), thank you's and seasonal occasions.

This event is open will be open from 5:30-9:00pm. Arrive by 7:00pm at the latest, to ensure time to complete at least 8 cards.

Stamping 101 Classes with Stampin' Up! Warmest of Wishes

One of the best things about this year's Stampin' Up! Convention was all of the surprises we received throughout the event.  On the last day, at the last session, we are all received the NEW Warmest of Wishes Holiday Mini Catalog Hostess stamp set (available to purchase with your hostess dollars beginning 9/1 when you place a $150 or more order).  It's so darn cute and matches several Stampin' Up! Stampin' Up! My Friend Convention Swap

Tomorrow I'll be in Salt Lake City for the 2011 Stampin' Up! Annual Convention.  I'm so excited, as I'll be seeing lots of my friends from around the United States and Canada.  Plus, I'll be rooming with my DOstamperSTAR friends, Laurie, Jan & Jenny.  We're gonna have a blast.  We'll try to check in every once in awhile to give you the Stampin' Up! scoop.

Stampin' Up! On the Grow & Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch

When I first saw the new Stampin' Up! On The Grow stamp set, I first thought of all the coloring the images would require.  And I'm so not good with coloring.  But instead I challenged myself to make some cards that didn't feature too much coloring.  And you know what...I liked it!

 

I stamped the scooter with Soft Suede ink, then just used a Baja Breeze Stampin' Write Marker (#120965) to color the flower buds.  Quick and easy!!

The punched flowers in the corner are from the new Triple Layer Punch called Blossom Bouquet (#122464).  I've totally fallen in love with this punch.  As it name says - it has a "triple" selection of punch-outs to choose from, contained in just one punch!  There are some tricks/tips for using this punch that I will show you in an upcoming video.

The center of the flowers are punched from the circle shape of the Itty Bitty Punch Pack (#118309).  The Pearl Jewel (#119247) is added for a finishing touch!

Stampin' Up! Build a Cupcake Punch: Ice Cream Cone Punch Art

Take a break today with this yummy Ice Cream Cone card, made with Stampin' Up!'s Build a Cupcake punch (#121807).  Isn't it clever that someone saw scoops of ice cream with the "frosting" image made with this fun punch!

The "cone" part was made with a small section of the Petal Cone Die (#121810) for the Big Shot.  Then ran through the Square Lattice Texture Impressions Embossing Folder (#119976).  This is a must-have folder with tons of uses!  The banner was cut from the Petal Cone die too.

Dawn's Stamping Quick Tips:  Scallop Rectangle

1.  Using the Big Shot...die cut two of the smaller scallop squares from the Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die (#120903, available as a carryover item). 

2.  Attach the two squares together overlapping two scallops.

3.  Stamp image on 1-3/8" x 2-3/8" piece of Whisper White.

4.  Enjoy!

 
Here's an even quicker card - sized at 3x3.  Great for gift enclosures!

TIP:  Stampin' Up!'s 1-1/4" and 1-3/8"  Square Punches fit perfectly inside the same Scallop Square used above - love it!!
