DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #307: Punches are a Stampers Best Friend!

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Product Spotlight" challenge.

That's right, punches ARE a stampers best friend. Why...because with a quick stamp and punch, you've got an easy-to-make embellishment for your cards.

Stampin' Up! has a large offering of punches. I chose the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, and the coordinating Making Christmas Bright stamp set (bundle % save 10%). It was an easy choice, as it was another card I offered at my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack class. The ladies found it a little fussy at first, but when their card all came together, I heard a lot of, "oh, that was worth it"!

Dawn's Tips:

For the best stamping impression...be sure to clean the "bulb" stamps before stamping. This will remove any manufacturing film.
Use the Stamparatus to stamp the greeting and string of lights - makes for quick and perfect stamping alignment!
Though you can't see it in the photo, Wink of Stella was added to the word "shine".

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #306: Under the Mistletoe Tree Card

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

My eye was drawn towards the plaid patterns on the packaging for today's challenge. I first thought of the retiring Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalog. But then thought I should give the Annual Catalog a little attention and pulled out the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper.

How'd She DO That tips for Sweetly Stitched Tree card:

- Old Olive (scraps for dies - Stitched Tree, 2-1/2" Scalloped Square)
- Early Espresso (scrap for 2-1/8" Stitched square)

The Sweetly Stitched Framelit Dies are really cute and could kind of stand on their own, as you can see. If you look closely at the tree shape - that is not a stamp for the stitching - that comes from the die itself. DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #305: Snow is Glistening - Sponge Dauber Trick

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "showCASE" challenge.

For todays, my eye focused in on the cute embellishment in the lower left corner, so that's what I'm casing!

Talk about a card that is simple, but wow...this one fits the bill. With it's easy Sponge Dauber Trick (see below tips) - you'll get stunning results in no time at all

My Stamping Club Members couldn't get enough of it. I heard surprised oohs, aahs and wows throughout the night. Made me smile. It's always fun to learn a new stamping technique. But even more fun when it's so easy that you can go home and do it yourself!

How'd She DO That? Sponge Dauber Tree card:

Stamps: Snow is Glistening (avail until 11/30)

- Real Red (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base, scrap for 1-3/8" scallop circle punch)
- Whisper White (4" x 5-1/4", scrap for 1-1/4" circle punch)

Tips for creating multi-colored tree with a Sponge Dauber:

Ink of tree image with Real Red ink
Before stamping, add black ink with Sponge Dauber to the larger snowflakes
Breath on stamp to remoisten
Stamp on 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White Panel
Then - ooh and aah!

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #303: Tropical Escape Day #3

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Product Spolight Challenge - Product Suites" challenge.

Between the Annual Catalog and the Holiday Catalog, there are lots of product suites to choose from...21 to be exact! But of course, I went with the Tropical Escape Suite.

For Day #3 of DOstamping Tropical Escape Suite Week, I added a little stamping onto the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper (DSP), to make it my own.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #302: Fall Winter Woods

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Home Sweet Home" challenge.

Feels like fall!

At least that's what I saw when working on this week's DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge.

My husband had a birthday last week and this was the card I made for him. It wasn't exactly what I had in my head when I first started, but I think it turned out nicely. And more importantly, he really liked it. That's why we make cards, right?

How'd She DO That? tips for Fall Winter Woods card:

Stamps: Winter Woods, Beautiful Day
Paper:
- Whisper White Thick (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (4" x 5-1/4")
- Early Espresso (2-3/8" x 4-1/4" for curved edgelit)
Ink: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie
Other: Big Shot, Into the Woods, Crumb Cake 3/8" Classic Weave Ribbon, Leaves Trinkets, Stamping Sponges, Glue Dots &SNAIL

Dawn's Sponging Technique Tips:

To get the ombre look, use Stamping Sponges
Sponge on ink using a circular motion
Start with the lightest color, working from the bottom to the top with the darkest color.
I used Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and just a touch of Pumpkin Pie.
I actually make a panel with Crajun Craze at the top, but it was too dark for my liking.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #301: Beautiful Blizzard with Joyous Noel

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "showCASE" challenge.

I'm excited for this week's showCASE challenge. Why...because I really like the layout of this card in the Holiday Catalog and I thought it could be applied to a lot of different Designer Series Papers. Here's my take on it...

With the catalog inspiration, this card came together very quickly (gotta love that?). I actually chose the snowflake pattern from the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper first, then searched for a stamp set that would complement it. I didn't have to search too far, as the Beautiful Blizzard Bundle was the perfect choice.

How'd She DO That? tips for Beautiful Blizzard card:

Stamps: Beautiful Blizzard
Paper:
- Sahara Sand (8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base)
- Whisper White (./4" x 3-1/2" banner)
- Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper (4" x 5-1/4", 3/4" x 4-1/2")
- Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper (scraps for snowflakes)
Ink: Tranquil Tide
Other: Big Shot, Precision Base Plate, Blizzard Thinlit Die, 3/16" Braided Linen Trim, Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets & Stampin' Dimensionals
Tip: For the snowflakes
- I cut a 2" x 4" piece of Glimmer Paper and Multipurpose Adhesive sheets and stuck them together.
- Placed it near one end of the die and cut several snowflakes. Then I had a few choices of sizes to select from. NOTE: this die cuts lots of snowflakes, see below for the sizes.
- The Blizzard Die definitely required the Precision Base Plate. For my Big Shot, I added a "shim" of folded copy paper too.

DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge #300: Spider Trinket Earrings

It's time for another DOstamperSTARS Thursday Challenge. This week we're having a "Color My Word" challenge.

In keeping with my Toil & Trouble Suite Week - I bring you Day #3. A fun little twist using the Spider Trinkets...Earrings!

Above is the "wrap" with an easy to slip off belly band.
Below is an option to add a Black Foil spider web die cut (with Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets) for an even more spooky look!
I found earring wires at Walmart in the crafting section.
