Bud Basics - Oh, the memories!

Why the memories?  That's because Bud Basics (and the matching jumbo wheel Basic Outline) was the stamp set I received free on my very first Stampin' Up! cruise to the Mexican Riveria!  And now it's retiring - boo hoo!

Here are a couple of samples that I made with it.  You'll see...I was into Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore at the time.  Still a great color combo!

The greetings on these two cards are from "Much Appreciated" - also retiring!

The last card is one of the make & takes I did on the cruise.  Yes - we even get to do make & takes on cruise!

Bye-bye "Bud Basics" and "Much Appreciated" stamp sets.  One can only guess, that the matching jumbo wheel will retire too.  The accessories list will be available on July 25th (including wheels) - only through your Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Haven't seen the retired lists yet?  Where have you been?  Check 'em out here!

Technique Tuesday - Gift Card Enclosure

I received a swap last fall from a fellow Demonstrator, Shawn N.  She did this really cute Holiday Gift Card Enclosure and the inside was so dang clever.  I knew I had to share it with my club members and this month was the month!  With graduations, Father's Day and summer Weddings, gifts cards make for a quick and easy gift.  But sometimes they can seem impersonal.  So make this clever enclosure card and your recipient will feel special!

This project uses two punches to create a clever "pocket" for your gift card.  The Word Window punch and the 1 1/4" circle punch.

  • Score 11 x 4 1/4 Very Vanilla Cardstock at 2 3/4", 5 1/2", 8 1/4"
  • Fold in half
  • Punch out two Word Windows along the folded edge (only go 1/2 way in, keeping about 3/8" in from each edge.
  • Punch out 1 1/4" half circle between the two previous punches
  • This is where I like to "test" my gift card to make sure the "window" is wide enough - if not - just go back over it with the Word Window punch to make wider.
  • Adhere the center sections together - only on the two sides - keeping to the outer edges (so your card will fit in the "pocket" you just created.
  • Now adhere the other two ends to the inside of your card measured 6 x 4 3/4 (fold in half).
  • Decorate and enjoy!

Bye bye retiring stamp set - Carte Postale w/matching jumbo wheel Leaves ala Carte

Color - Bashful Blue, So Saffron & Very Vanilla

Technique Tues Card - You Decide!

Hey Hedgehog Stamping Club members...Are you ready for Technique Tuesday, April 8th?   Well - I'm not.  Well...mostly I am.

The only thing is...I'm having a debate with my daugher, Becky over the colors.  She's the creative one, so sometimes she pushes me outside of my comfort zone - especially with color combos.  I designed the card below featuring one of the FREE WHEELS you can get from APRIL'S FREE WHEELING SPECIAL.

Here it is with Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky - more my color combo style.

This one is Becky's color combo style with Wild Wasabi and So Saffron.  I sooo would have never chosen yellow, but it's growing on me.

So what do you think...which color combo do you prefer?  Wild Wasabi with SOFT SKY or SO SAFFRON.  You decide - let me know by leaving a comment with this post.

REMINDER...Technique Tuesday - Club Member Only Class

  • Tuesday, April 8th (open from 4:30-8:30pm)
  • or Wednesday, April 9th (open from 6:30-8:30pm)

Hatlesssnowman_4 Oh, I'm so sad to see "Cold Play" go.  I have a special affinity with this stamp set.

I don't enter many contests or send in many cards for publication - however, I did submit a card for a Stampin' Up! monthly contest with this card.  Image how disappointed I was when it was not selected.  However, they later published it as an honerable mention in "On Stage" (a SU publication for demonstrators).  I was thrilled...plus I received a free stamp set.  Love free rubber!

It is a fun card and I've enjoyed sharing it with lots of people.  I hope you enjoy it too.
