Welcome to another Your Creative Connection tour, #YCC117. Our theme today is: Dies to Die For

As I've been playing with the Poinsettia Place Suite lately, it was a natural choice to select the Poinsettia Dies for my project today.

How'd She DO That? Poinsettia Dies card

Stamps/Bundles: Poinsettia Petals Bundle (includes the Poinsettia Dies)
Paper:
- Soft Suede (8 ½” x 5 ½” card base, scrap for 2 sprig die cuts)
- Very Vanilla (5-1/2" x 5-1/2" for poinsettia die cuts, plus scrap for 2 berry sprig die cuts)
- Crumb Cake (3 -3/4" x 5”)
- Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper (1” x 5 ½”)
Ink: Early Espresso Real Red
Other: Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Beaded Pearls, Real Red 3/8” Sheer Ribbon, Stampin' Seal, Glue Dots & Stampin' Dimensionals

It's hard to see in the photo, but the petals have embossed lines on them.

At first glance at the dies, I was concerned about the process for cutting and embossing. Do I have to cut first, then emboss afterwards? The answer is no! They cut and emboss at the same time. See tips below.

DOstamping Tips for Poinsetta Dies:

Place all 7 dies on a 5-1/2" square of cardstock. Nest the matching "emboss" dies inside the large shape dies.
I was excited to cut/embossed all four petal sizes at the same time. Phfew - what a time saver!
Adhere flowers together with Stampin' Seal &/or Mini Glue Dots.
Adhere Beaded Pearls to the center with Mini Glue Dots.

The Poinsettia Place Suite was an instant favorite for me! If you like poinsettias like I do, then you'll be thrilled with the suite too.

DOstamping Tips:

Create your own background paper by collaging images.
Pick out three images and three colors.
Stamp one image at a time, randomly all over the white panel. Then move on to each image/color until your paper is filled as desired.
Stamp-off some images to varying the colors (like the pumpkin image)
Don't forget about the Holiday Rhinestones - there's lots of colors to coordinate with a variety of projects!

Your Creative Connection #YCC115: Masking Dove of Hope

Welcome to another Your Creative Connection tour, #YCC115. Our theme today is: What's Behind the Mask

What's Behind the Mask? For this week's theme we could make a project using any of the following: masking, create your own mask or Stampin' Up! Decorative Masks. I chose the masking technique. The Dove of Hope is a great stamp set to feature this technique.

How'd She DO That? Dove of Hope card:

Stamps: Dove of Hope
Paper:
- Pretty Peacock (11" x 4-1/4" card base)
- Very Vanilla (2-1/2" x 3-3/4")
- Copper Foil Sheet (3-1/4" x 4-1/2")
- Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper (3-3/4" x 4-1/4")
Ink: Pretty Peacock
Other: Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, 3/8" Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon, Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin' Seal & Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping Masking Tips:

On Very Vanilla piece, stamp sentiment at bottom. Stamp dove image leaving space for the branch and area for ribbon.
Create a "mask" for dove by stamping dove on scratch paper and fussy cut out.
Place mask over stamped dove.
Stamp branch image over dove mask.
Remove mask.
Finish off by using Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to move color around on the leaves.

Take a closer look:

I was looking for a Designer Series Paper to coordinate with the Dove of Hope stamp set.

Your Creative Connection #YCC114: Strong & Beautiful

For today's challenge, I reached for the NEW Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper. The pattern paper was designed for Halloween, but there are several patterns that could be used all-year long! Take a look...

How'd She DO That? Strong & Beautiful card

Stamps: Strong & Beautiful
Paper:
- Basic Gray (4-1/4" x 11" card base)
- Blackberry Bliss (4" x 5-1/4" and scrap for banner shape die from Tasteful Labels)
- Smoky Slate (scrap for Stitched So Sweetly Die for the sentiment)
- Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper (two of 2" x 3")
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush
Other: Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin' Seal, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

If you have seen this paper, you might be wondering where the coloring on the flowers came from. I took some liberties with the challenge of black and white, and added Blackberry Bliss (ha...it has black in it's name, right?!) See my tips for more information.

DOstamping Tips:

For coloring the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper , I used a Blackberry Bliss ink pad and the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
- While the pad is closed - squeeze the lid into the pad and then open to find a "pool" of ink in the lid.
- Pick up some ink with the Glitter Brush to add color and glitter to the flowers at the same time.
- This card looks amazing in real life!
The Blackberry Bliss banner ends come from a single banner die from the Tasteful Labels Dies - just cut in half.

I have to admit, without this challenge I would have never made a card like this. And I'm SO happy with the results. Give this challenge a try for yourself.

Your Creative Connection #YCC112: Peony Garden Fun Fold

Welcome to another Your Creative Connection tour, #YCC112. Our theme today is: Return to the Fold

If you're anything like me, you might have a love affair with Fun Fold cards! I prefer the less intricate ones, like this Middle Panel Fun Fold card.

This fun fold card style has been making the rounds for awhile now and I've been waiting to make. So today's the day! I got out the Peony Garden Suite and got to playing around.

How'd She DO That? Peony Garden Middle Panel Fun Fold Card

Stamps: Prized Peony(Bundle & SAVE 10% with Peony Dies)
Paper:
- Petal Pink (5-1/4" x 5-1/2" card base, 4" x 4", 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" for die cutting)
- Whisper White (4-1/4" x 5-1/2", 3" x 3-3/4")
- Gray Granite (scraps for leaf die cuts)
- Peony Garden Designer Series Paper (two of 1" x 4")
Ink: Gray Granite, Petal Pink
Other: Sponge Daubers, Peony Dies, Gray Granite 1/4" Shimmer Ribbon, Elegant Faceted Gems, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Seal,

DOstamping Tips:

Score 5-1/4" x 5-1/2" card base at 4-1/4" along the 5-1/2" side (when folded it should measure 4-1/2" x 5-1/2")
Adhere DSP strips to both ends of 4" x 5-1/4" white panel, then adhere to inside of card.
Stamp sentiment in upper left corner of smaller white piece, then adhere to 4" square pink panel. (NOTE: there will be extra space at the top of the pink panel). Adhere the "extra space" area to inside the flap - center and line up bottom to bottom of card. (NOTE: there will be a slight gap between the folded score edge and this panel). Wrap ribbon around the flap and tie in a knot.
Die cut the 5 pieces for the peony flower from 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of pink and 3 leaves from Gray Granite scrap. Add ink to petals with a sponge dauber to give the flower depth. Saving the stamen for last, tuck each flower die cut inside each other, starting with the smallest. Only adhere each piece at the bottom. Optional: use bone flower to curve petals. Add stamen last. Adhere flower & leaves to card front with glue dots.
Optional: decorate inside.

Your Creative Connection #YCC111: Forever Greenery Corset Tag Card

Welcome to another Your Creative Connection tour, #YCC111. Our theme today is: Tag You're It

For today's showcase, I went waaay back into the "vault" and pulled out a memory of a card style I enjoyed making in 2004!

Back then, it was called a "Corset Card" and I found the inspiration in a magazine (that I don't recall right now). You used two shipping tags to create the corset. Now, with all of Stampin' Up!'s tag punches, there are lots of choices to make a Corset Tag card.

How'd She DO That? Forever Greenery Corset Tag Card

Stamps: Fancy Phrases (Bundle & SAVE 10% with Fancy Tag Topper Punch)
Paper:
- Old Olive (4-1/4" x 11" card base)
- Whisper White (scrap for sentiment tag)
- Pretty Peacock (two of 2" x 5-1/2" for "corset tags")
- Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper (4" x 5-1/4")
Ink: Pretty Peacock
Other: Greenery Embossing Folders, Delightful Tag Topper Punch, Label Me Fancy Punch, 3/8" Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon, Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack, Stampin' Seal, Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping Tips:

Cut one end of each of the two of 2" x 5-1/2" Pretty Peacock strips with the Delightful Tag Topper Punch
Add texture to both tags with the Greenery Embossing Folder (preserve the hole/tag ends).
Layout tags over your card with tag ends facing each other. Thread ribbon through both holes and tie in a bow.
Wrap tag ends around to the back side and adhere to together. (NOTE: corset should be snug, but loose enough to slide off).

I definitely recommend adding the Forever Greenery Suite to your collection - you'll use it all year long!

How'd She DO That? Masculine Happiest of Birthdays Fun Fold Card

Stamps: Happiest of Birthdays
Paper:
- Whisper White Thick (4-1/4" x 11" card base, score at 2-3/4" & 5-1/2"
- Whisper White (3-1/8" x 4")
- Night of Navy (3-3/8" x 4-1/4")
- Crushed Curry (2-3/8" x 4-1/4"
- Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper (2" x 4")
Ink: Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Night of Navy Stampin' Blends (Dark)
Other: Playing with Patterns Resin Dots, Stampin' Seal, Stampin' Dimensionals

DOstamping Tips:

Color the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots with Stampin' Blends! I colored one of them with Night of Navy dark for this card. With our Stampin' Blends these resins dots can go with anything!
To assemble this fun fold card: fold bottom half into a Z fold. Only adhere the top of the sentiment piece to the card (with Stampin' Dimensionals). It holds the bottom half in place, until you unfold it to reveal the inside of the card.

I definitely recommend adding the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set to your collection - you'll use it all year long!
